Director of Research

Destination Analysts is expanding its research team in our Research + Client Services division, and seeking an inquisitive, team-oriented, client-forward, effective data and research communicator for a Director of Research role.

Job Description & Responsibilities:
Destination Analysts’ Directors of Research are responsible for the development, oversight and execution of market research strategies for projects Destination Analysts leads on behalf of its clients, as well as for greater consumption among the travel industry and media. As a Director of Research, you will act as a market research practitioner executing Destination Analysts’ research product and services lines, helping fulfill the Company’s revenue goals, and overall vision and mission.

Primary responsibilities include:

Data and Analytics Manager

As Analytics Manager, your position is responsible for execution and oversight of market research projects lead by the Company on behalf of its clients, as well as for greater consumption among the travel industry and media. This role will also helping fulfill the Company’s revenue goals, and overall vision and mission.

Job Description & Responsibilities:
As the Company’s Analytics Manger, your main responsibilities and required services include:

• Clean, review and analyze data the Company collects and develop cross-tabulations using Q (data analysis software the Company uses) or other similar software services
• Program surveys (using Forsta/Decipher) online, check surveys for QA and field surveys from start to finish with external panel provider
• Clean, review and input large datasets for dashboards and visualizations in Microsoft PowerBI and other data visualization tools such as Displayr
• Develop models of visitor visitation and visitor economic impact using syndicated, secondary, and publicly available data, and calculate direct and indirect impacts using IMPLAN
• Manage the purchase of large geo-location datasets and work with data scientists to develop analysis of visitation patterns and visualizations within dashboards
• Manages communication with clients in a professional and courteous way during and between research projects
• Completes assigned tasks by their designated internal and external due dates and times, and ensuring high integrity in the data collected and data analysis systems
• Assists as needed with Company marketing and sales functions, represents the Company at industry events as needed
• Performs administrative tasks as necessary and develops knowledge base through professional education as necessary
• Ensure data is stored in compliance with current privacy laws as applicable
• Manage internal communication about project related tasks to ensure that projects move forward on deadline
• Anticipate Company’s Directors of Research and Company’s client needs through intimate familiarity with the projects and business, and proactively engage on a continual basis to
help foster a sense of partnership
• Work with the Senior Director of Analytics and Executive Leadership on identifying areas of improvement and opportunity to service Company’s clients
• Work with Executive Leadership and staff on ideating, fostering and developing new products, service lines and thought leadership offerings
• Travel to oversee research execution, client presentations and sales opportunities and to represent the company at business events
• Develop knowledge base through professional education and training on tools that the Company uses or will be a benefit to the Company

• 3+ years of previous professional experience in similar role

• Experience and comfort with large data sets and using online visualization tools such as Displayr and PowerBi
• Experience programming surveys using Forsta/Decipher
• Experience using SPSS/Q for developing data analyses and cross tabulations
• Economic modeling and/or application of economic modeling experience (IMPLAN)
• Entrepreneurial spirit
• Experience coding in R or python

Administrative and Operations Specialist 

Destination Analysts is expanding its research team in our Research + Client Services division, and seeking an inquisitive, team-oriented, client-forward, effective data and research communicator for a Director of Research role.

Job Description & Responsibilities:
The Administrative and Operations Specialist will support the team by assisting with a diverse set of projects and tasks to keep the business running smoothly.

Primary responsibilities include:

• Respond to web inquiries and leads, and schedule calls with the appropriate team members
• Support marketing processes including website updates, uploading video content to YouTube; managing contacts, leads and email distribution lists
• Assist team with proposals and reports, including creating infographics
• Support the operations team with recruiting, qualifying and compensation of participants in research studies and webinars
• Look for opportunities to better organize the team, improve processes and create efficiencies
• Calendaring and scheduling of meetings and events
• Assist with expense reports
• Organize existing data storage
• Plan team events
• Occasional data entry and CRM management
• Other duties as assigned
• Develop a knowledge base through professional education and training on tools that the Company uses or will be a benefit to the Company
