Director of Research

Destination Analysts is expanding its research team in our Research + Client Services division, and seeking an inquisitive, team-oriented, client-forward, effective data and research communicator for a Director of Research role. 
Job Description & Responsibilities 
Destination Analysts’ Directors of Research are responsible for the development, oversight and execution of market research strategies for projects Destination Analysts leads on behalf of its clients, as well as for greater consumption among the travel industry and media.  As a Director of Research, you will act as a market research practitioner executing Destination Analysts’ research product and services lines, helping fulfill the Company’s revenue goals, and overall vision and mission.
Primary responsibilities include:
  • Lead the execution of proper market research, ensuring high integrity in the data collected, and meeting data collection and reporting deliverable goals on time and to our clients’ satisfaction.
  • Contribute at all stages and all steps of both quantitative and qualitative research projects when necessary, including, but not limited to, survey design, questionnaire writing, data analysis, report writing, presentation development and delivery, focus group and in-depth interview moderation, qualitative discussion guide development, qualitative study recruiting, and client communications.
  • Translate research data into actionable insights and recommendations through reports and presentations, which will have a high impact to Destination Analysts’ clients
  • Anticipate client needs through intimate familiarity with the business, and their unique challenges/opportunities, and proactively engage on a continual basis to help foster a sense of partnership. 
  • Work with Executive Leadership and staff on ideating, fostering and developing new products, service lines and thought leadership offerings.
  • Travel to oversee research execution, client presentations and sales opportunities and to represent the company at business events.
 This job reports to the Vice President of Research.

  • Qualitative research design and moderation experience
  • Knowledge of market research concepts 
  • Comfortable in mathematical and logical concepts

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office 
Skills and Traits that We Consider a Plus:
  • Experience and/or comfort with large data sets and using and/or learning BI tools
  • BI design and usage (Power BI, Tableau, etc) experience
  • Economic modeling and/or application of economic modeling experience
  • Entrepreneurial spirit
Remote or Hybrid (physical office is in San Francisco, California)
